cruise-la-la #2

we had a fine dining night and got all dressed up, it was nice to feel like we were out on a special date together.  We haven't been on a vacation together since we found out we were having the twins almost 3years ago.  so we really spoiled ourselves and had as much fun each day as possible.

we went to the cayman islands, i was excited but nervous as well because we signed up to swim with the sting rays.  the ocean water in the cayman's is so clear and beautiful, its almost fake.
there is a small town in the caymans called 'hell' there are black dried coral reefs that look almost volcanic, and when the first explorors came they thought it looked like something from hell, so that is where the name came from.

they also have a huge turtle refuge, it was amazing to see these massive turtles swimming around.

this is me being brave and holding a baby turtle.
my favorite part of the trip was surprisingly swimmin with the sting rays.  we took a small boat with maybe 12other people and went 30min out in the middle of nowhere.  i thought it would be on a beach somewhere where i could read and spence could swim with all sorts of stuff.  little did i know that it was truly in the middle of nowhere, and they just anchored the boat on a sandbar and you could see all these dark shadows swimming around.  i was freaked out, but wanted to be brave and crazy for spencer. he was shocked to see me jump in.  i made friends with some brazilian grandmas and we held hands and screamed the whole time.  spence fed, chased, captured, held, and even kissed the sting rays.  i surprised myself by beingin the middle of the ocean and swimming with wild creatures.
i know spence had a great time too.  we haven't developed our underwater camera from that day , but i do have the pictures to proove it!
then we were of to jaimaca!  we went to the rainfort 'fern gully' and hiked the dunn falls.  this was really cool, you basically walked up a small water fall.

spence ate some local jaimacan grum, and i couldn't even think about touching it...chicken?? it reminded me of the food in africa, a little unknown.
we had a great vacation, and can't wait til spence finishes residency to do it all again.
thanks to my parents and spence's mom for watchin the twins so we could relax kid free.
